Description:
The Commodity Tax Unit develops and provides advice on Ontario's commodity taxes, including analysis of revenue, economic and sectoral impacts. The Unit also develops and analyzes legislative design options to meet overall policy objectives and oversees the drafting of legislation and regulations to implement policy direction. The Unit is responsible for fuel tax, gasoline tax, tobacco tax, land transfer tax, race tracks tax, the debt retirement charge and the City of Toronto taxation power.
