Description:
The Education Statistics and Analysis Branch (ESAB) collects, analyzes and reports on data from school boards and other sources to support ministry policy and program work. ESAB is responsible for the Managing Information for Student Achievement (MISA) program, aimed at improving the capacity for evidence-informed decision-making at the ministry, school boards and in schools. MISA helps to ensure the availability of information for public reporting and its usage to inform policy development, instructional practice and system management. ESAB works in partnership with program branches in the ministry to examine business requirements and provide decision support products. ESAB works closely with the sector through school board MISA Leaders and the seven Professional Network Centres that have been established as virtual learning communities for the use of research and evidence. ESAB is a central point of contact for other jurisdictions concerning education statistics.
